This is our first visit to the Maxwell market to try some of the stores as we have heard of quite a few good food there.
There were already some stores which were closed, but fortunately we still managed to try some of the stores! Here's one that we'll recommend:
Yan Kee Noodle House
The bright display of the picture caught our attention so we decided to try the one with the biggest picture which happened to be their Specialty Dried Mee Sua. Essentially this is the same as other dry minced meat noodles but instead of the normal mee pok (flat noodles), mee sua (vermicelli) is used instead.
Specialty Dried Mee Sua ($3)
First take - generous serving of minced meat and topped with anchovies which we thought was quite an interesting combination.
The mee sua was very thin and soft and is definitely considered as a lighter version as compared to noodles when you are craving for minced meat noodles. The addition of the anchovies surprisingly made a good combination with the mee sua! Very crunchy and gave the food an extra layer of texure as the mee sua was not as chewy as other noodles. Picky Girlfriend and Fussy Boyfriend really like this!
Give the mee sua a toss and mixed it well with chilli, tasted heavenly :)
Look at how big the anchovies are!
The chilli was also very fragrant and not too over powering. Fishballs are of the right size and very chewy and "q". Also without the fishy smelly that most fishballs have. There were other items sold in the store (minced meat noodles cost only $2 which is really very affordable!)
The store uncle was also very friendly and proud when he shared with us that the store is opened 24 hour, and even during Chinese New year!
Picky girlfriend's rating for Specialty mee sua: 3.75/5
Fussy Boyfriend's rating for Specialty mee sua: 3.5/5
