DIY Hum Jin Pang 中国街咸煎饼

If you love Hum Jin Pang (Salted/Sweet fried buns), you should go to this stall at Maxwell market! Both Picky Girlfriend and Fussy Boyfriend have heard lots about this as this is the store where you can DIY your own Hum Jin Pang!

So we were finally here and there was a long queue. Just in front there were 2 ladies (believed from Taiwan) holding on to their Singapore guide book, and all eager to try DIY frying the hum jin pang! So probably this has been one of the highlights for SG food.

This was really an interesting concept we must say. On one hand, the stall holders were able to keep continue making the dough and threading them and customers get to have a little fun too! Of course, this keeps the cost low too, so why not? :)

Just fry till it's golden brown, and you can start scooping them up! Quite an experience, but you must be fast, otherwise the store owner would just scoop them up before you do to avoid over-frying!

(Pardon the quality of the video, we had to reduce this by alot as blogger only allows max. 100MB file)

Enjoy the video, just grab the long chopsticks and start frying! :)

The final end product, at a super affordable rate of 6 pieces for just $1!

We were totally eager to try as Picky girlfriend has been busy frying them and Fussy Boyfriend taking the photos and video too. We ordered both the salty and the red bean version for trying and the piping hot hum jin pang tasted nice (we really think DIY-ing helps in enhancing the taste somehow!)

Both Picky girlfriend and Fussy Boyfriend's rating for DIY Hum Jin Pang: 3.5/5
(Rating is 4/5 if you include the fun of DIY frying the hum jing pang! =P)
