There were still alot more to explore in 85 Market. And probably the first food that came to mind is Bak Chor Mee so we tried this as well and yes with long queues!
The legendary 2 famous bak chor mee that are located side by side and are major competitors!
PS: Apologies for the bad shot for this! it started to drizzle the moment we wanted to take this!
So we tried the store on the left which sells traditional bak chou mee that is soup based only!
The waiting time was kinda long as everytime the store took your order they will write it down on their order list. If you are lucky, you can get your noodles served in 10-15 mins. Otherwise be prepared to wait for half an hour or more!
And finally...
Soup is refreshing and light with a tinge of sweetness. Noodles is also firm and springy.
However the minced meat was a let down as it was too fluffy and mushy. There's really nothing that you can chew! There were alot of fats in the meat as well which was quite a turn off. Not forgetting the excessive pork lard in the soup. :(
The meatball was also very normal which we think can be conveniently purchased from supermarkets.
And here comes Picky Girlfriend's favourite tagline: "this is over-rated"!!
Not worth the money and neither the waiting time. It used to be very nice, but now standards seem to have dropped, but maybe is just this bowl that we had. I am sure there are still die hard supporters for this!
Rating from both Picky Girlfriend and Fussy Boyfriend: 2.25/5
